What Divas Should - and Should NOT - Order on a First Date!

With Spring weather finally starting to well…spring and happy hours undoubtedly on your future agenda, we decided it was time to check in with master mixologist David Brogan to see what drinks you should order if you want to make a good impression and which ones to avoid. Here are his recommendations.

DO NOT ORDER THESE ON A FIRST DATE!

Unless you are just looking for a hookup, Brogan says classy dating divas should NEVER order the following drinks on a first date.

Dirty Martini – “The ultimate classic martini especially when made with a top shelf vodka is wonderful but, a horrible choice for your first date!,” says Brogan.  “It screams ‘I’m easy and I’m a lush!’”  Instead, let him order it and just sneak a sip while he’s not looking!

Slippery Nipple – “The name says it all!,” says Brogan.  ”Even JWOWW from the ‘Jersey Shore’ has more class!”

Sex on the Beach – “Otherwise known as ‘Sex in my Bed!’” warns Brogan. ”It will have him thinking you’re a ‘Red Headed Slut,’ which, by the way, is another drink you want to avoid!”

Bloody Mary - “Not even for brunch!” Brogan instructs. “It’s just such an unfriendly looking cocktail and the name is disgusting.   YUK!”

DO ORDER THESE DRINKS!

So, what drinks might encourage your date to order up a second date? Consider the following:

White Champagne Cosmopolitan – Basically, it’s a Cosmo but made with white cranberry juice and topped off with champagne.  “It’s chic and elegant and will have him thinking he’s on a date with Carrie Bradshaw,” says Brogan.  “It takes the Cosmo and your dating life to a whole new level.”

Bella Bellini – “Think fresh peach puree, a touch of Cointreau topped off with champagne and a fresh slice of white peach,” says Brogan.  “So yummy and nothing looks sexier in a woman’s hand than a champagne flute!”

Passion Fruit Cocktail – A sumptuous combination of orange vodka, passion fruit sorbet, fresh lime juice and mint. And just mentioning the word “passion” should get your date thinking.

Also keep in mind that moderation is ALWAYS a good idea with any drink on a first date. Tipsy can be fun, but trashed is not cute.
