Fall Fever?

Crisp temps. Crunching leaves. Caramel apples. Cable-knit sweaters. Crackling fireplaces.

Let’s face it, romance is in the air. And while most people equate Spring with birds, bees and all that, personally I think that when the autumnal equinox hits, the desire is even greater for love. Call it “Fall Fever.”

Suddenly the idea of walking along holding some cute guy’s hand as you look at pumpkins or sip a steaming latte becomes overwhelmingly appealing. Especially if you have the pumpkin and the latte, but are missing the hand to hold.

I mean, it’s cuddle weather. But snuggling up in a snuggie is much more fun if there are two of you trying to cram in there.

So what’s a single gal to do if she comes down with an acute case of Fall Fever? Well, personally I find candles to be good medicine.  If I get enough pumpkin spice and cinnamon roll wafting through my abode, I sort of find myself pleasantly Zen about things and surrounded in a haze of “scentual” bliss (a poor second to sensual bliss but hey…at least it’s something).

And this year it seems to be all about scarves? Perhaps a feeble attempt to “wrap” myself in cashmere love? Actually in this economy my choices have been more acrylic blend but hey…they still feel good.

Oh, and Butternut Squash soup…yes, that makes me happy too. Or anything with pumpkin in it…like Edy’s Limited Edition Pumpkin ice cream.

Fall Fever is manageable…but I won’t lie…its main symptom is a dash of lonely. You see, I like to snuggle. But it’s got to be with the right snuggler or I’m better off with my down slippers, a cocktail and a fire in my fireplace. Alone.

But if  a Dr. McDreamy type would like to appear and research my symptoms, well…I’m totally down for ditching the maintenance phase and trying for an all out cure.
